Complete shutdown in Islamabad, Kulgam districts

Srinagar, July 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, three youths were injured, today, when Indian troops used brute force on peaceful demonstrators who were protesting the killing of a youth, Suhail Ahmad Lone, by CRPF personnel in Kulgam district.

Clashes erupted in Qaimoh area of the district as youth had assembled to protest the killing of Suhail Ahmad Lone. Troops used brute force against the peaceful protesters in which three protesters were injured.

Meanwhile, the twin districts of Islamabad and Kulgam witnessed complete shutdown against Suhail Ahmad’s killing in CRPF firing in Khudwani area of the district. Call for the strike was given by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani. The authorities had also imposed curfew and restrictions in the districts to prevent anti-India protest demonstrations following the killing of the youth.

Hundreds of troops and police personnel were deployed in Kaimoh and adjoining areas after the death of Suhail Ahmad.
