Karachi: The Governor of Sindh is very keen on restoring the façade of Karachi city to its old glory when peace and tranquillity used to flow on the shiny pavements and pedestrian paths along the vibrant streets of Karachi .it was stated by Roshan Ali Shaikh the Commissioner Karachi Division in a briefing to the Citizens of Karachi made in the Committee room of Commissioner Office the other day.
Commissioner Karachi said that the honourable Governor Sindh had assigned this prestigious task to Divisional administration in order to give a complete facelift to the selected areas of Karachi. A series of projects under this programme would be planned and executed these include a vehicle-free pedestrian enclave in and around the Saddar area which shall be developed in a blend of 19th century restoration works for old dilapidated buildings of Saddar Karachi with the current city –centre themes that are familiar in most of the centers of the world.
Another beautification project will lead to the improvement and uplift of the I.I Chundrigar road and periphery to make it pedestrian friendly and with vehicular traffic regulation so that specific parking spaces are allotted to the business houses while restricting other vehicular modes.
Roshan ali Shaikh also revealed the outline of another facilitation project of prime public importance in the form of provision of modern public toilets facilities at convenient places in the city of Karachi.
On this occasion Ms Yasmeen Lari a renowned architect said that Governor Sindh had already showed his resolve to bring cultural life and ambience back to Karachi in the form of the Port Grand at the KPT Harbour. She assured Commissioner Karachi Her Support in achieving the success for the projects.
