Karachi, May 11, 2015 (PPI-OT): Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has constituted a joint Team comprising two check posts to check the violations of traffic rules and regulations of heavy vehicles at Northern by pass. The team will check vehicle papers, fitness and drivers licenses. The team will be from excise, traffic. Provincial transport authority, regional transport authority and motor vehicle excise department.
This was decided by the commissioner while presiding a high level meeting held here on Monday at his office to review the vehicular traffic causing traffic congestions in the city while these vehicles enter the city. Commissioner said traffic jam in Karachi is not a new subject is an old subject and meeting held today, main objective was to resolve the traffic issue of the city.
It was decided in the meeting that heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply within the city from 11pm to 6am as this was being done as per orders issued by Supreme Court. He said these plans are being decided with the mutual understanding of transporters and DIG traffic police. He further said ten wheelers or trawlers could enter the city from 11 p m to 6 p m and aid they could also choose route of Northern By pass.
Oil tankers small or big could not enter the city from 5pm to7 pm. Oil tankers or ten wheelers could enter the city except 5pm to 7pm so that transportation of luggage within the city could be done easily. DIG Traffic police in the meeting suggested Maripur truck stand to be shifted to super high Way.
