Islamabad, November 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): A spokesperson of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research today rebutted news items in a section of media that blamed Ministry of National Food Security and Research for showing slackness in resolving the issue of Russian ban on import of agricultural products from Pakistan. The spokesperson said that the Ministry has taken strong exception to such unauthenticated and factually incorrect news items.
The spokesman clarified that the Ministry of National Food Security and Research is quite cognizant of the evolving situation and is actively pursuing the matter with all stakeholders concerned on daily basis.
The spokesman said that the Ministry of National Food Security is undertaking all necessary measures, including at diplomatic level, to resolve this issue at the earliest. The Ministry has also sent a number of letters through Pakistan Embassy in Russia to officials concerned in Russian Government asking for removal of ban on Pakistani agricultural products. Furthermore, in a recent meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security and Russian Ambassador in Pakistan, the latter assured of full cooperation for early resolution of the issue.
The spokesman added that it is the responsibility of media personnel to furnish the public with factual news stories but unfortunately, in this case, the blame of slackness on the part of Ministry of National Food Security and Research in pursuing this issue is baseless and false.
The Ministry of National Food Security and Research suggests that media persons may consult the Ministry to see for themselves, the efforts being made by the Ministry for the prompt resolution of this important issue. Moreover, the Ministry expects that future news items, if any, regarding this issue, will be based on facts rather than fiction.
