Karachi, October 24, 2014 (PPI-OT): Air Marshal (retd) Muhammad Yousaf, Director General CAA disclosed that Civil Aviation Authority is the only government organization that invests its own money in its development projects.
CAA is working on providing best facilities along with the extension of runways at Islamabad Airport which will be completed in 2 months’ time. He said that there is no authenticity in the news of ‘Islamabad Airport named among the world’s worst Airport’ and said that New Islamabad Airport will be completed by the end of 2016.
While addressing the media DG CAA said that in the last 6 months complaints have fallen by 40%. New development projects are being carried out at Islamabad Airport such as new washrooms are being built which will increase the quantity of washrooms to 16, five lane entry system to deal with increasing traffic, Provision of new checking counters, New branded food outlets are being built, special care is being given to maintenance of the Airport and said that all the work will be completed in two months’ time.
DG CAA further said that Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority will be installing new radars soon as the contract in this regard is expected to be signed within one or two days. He also said that the new Multan International Airport will be completed by the end of this year with new security equipment while the extension of terminal building and runways of Quetta Airport will be completed by next year.
While talking about the development projects of Karachi Airport DG CAA said that new mechanical sweeper machines will be purchased by the end of November and Karachi Airport will soon be installed with boarding bridges.
Air Marshal (Retd) Muhammad Yousaf, Director General CAA emphasized that it is also the responsibility of media to reconfirm the news before publishing it as baseless and false news not only prove detrimental to the operations of CAA but also to the nation as a whole.
