Lahore, November 12, 2015 (PPI-OT): Mr. Song will present replica of Chinese IT giant Alibaba in Pakistan. It was stated by Mr. Shah Faisal Afridi, President Pak- China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry while addressing a high profile Chinese delegation led by Mr. Song. Xiaochun, one of the founders of Alibaba Software Park and Director of national software industry alliance. Afridi termed Mr. Song as Songbaba of Pakistan.
The other members of the delegation were Mr. Luo weijie, Deputy Director of Industrial economy division Zhejiang province and Dr. Li Chunguang , Advanced strategy counsellor in MIIT software and Vice Director of planning department in digital city council of China society for urban studies.
Faisal Afridi assured the fullest support in establishing model IT park by China in Pakistan. The assurance was extended by him while delivering address of welcome to a Chinese Delegation at Haier ruba Special economic zone. Shah Faisal Afridi said that “Merely building roads and Highways is not a big deal, what is important for sustainable development is the information sharing between Pakistan and China.
The Delegation visited Pakistan with a plan to formulate a model IT Park in Pakistan to overcome the digital divide between both countries. Faisal Afridi in his welcome address mentioned that industrial Information zones should be developed between China and Pakistan. He said that IT Park would be the foundation through which Chinese IT industry could be transformed to Pakistan. “In terms of Infrastructure Pakistan could not import everything, Pakistan must be capable enough to generate products of its need” added Afridi.
Mr .Song head of Delegation said that China want to help Pakistan complete the undergoing IT projects. He said that Information sharing between china and Pakistan is the need of time. He suggested a full time organization with thousands of Chinese and Pakistani trained people working together for the earliest completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said that it is not possible until and unless both countries go for Knowledge Joint ventures rather than going for only joint ventures in buildings and Highways.
Mr. Song acknowledged the services of Shah Faisal Afridi and Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the full time support and cooperation during their stay in Pakistan. He said that the next visit would be the practical initiation of the Model IT software park at the land specified by the government for this purpose.
The Delegation in this regard was facilitated by PCJCCI in arranging one to one discussion sessions and meetings with various relevant organizations in order to give a clear overview of current IT needs of Pakistan.
They had a detailed meeting with Chairman higher education commission, Professor Doctor Nizamudin, who provided information regarding current situation of Information technology in educational institutes of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is a huge population and there is an emergent need to involve people in information technology industry in order to make them competitive and innovative.
He said that the needs of Pakistan are large and there is requirement for Massive entrepreneurship programs to engage people in their own business to make them self reliant and confident. He said that Pak-china Collaborative Poly technique institutes should be established under the IT Park to bring Chinese technology and expertise in Pakistan.
He mentioned that currently the focus of Punjab government is to inline, education, soft ware development, and E-commerce and Civil development with the Information technology. Therefore Chinese collaboration in these specified areas would help Pakistan achieve the goal in a shorter time. He offered 100 acres land near the city for the formation of proposed I.T Park with Chinese collaboration.
The Delegation during its week stay visited Investment Promotion Conference organized by PBIT (Punjab Board of Investment and Trade) where they met Chief Minister and exchanged their views regarding Pak-China Information Technology Park. The Delegation was hosted by Chinese Counsel General, Mr. Yu Boren and Director General of Punjab Information technology board (PITB), Dr. Faisal.
The Delegation later met with Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology Mr. Fazal Ahmed Khalid with whom they signed MOU for commissioning Research team to highlight the needs of Pakistani information technology Industry. Mr. Fazal told the delegates the areas in which Pakistan lacks in terms of technology are Banking, Insurance, Finance, and security. A joint research and monitoring team was formulated to monitor the future progress under the signed MOU.
