Islamabad, April 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): China, Russia and Pakistan held the trilateral dialogue on Afghanistan in Beijing on 3 April. The dialogue was chaired by Ambassador Luo Zhaohui, Director General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the ministry of Foreign Affairs of china, and attended by the Russian delegation led by Ambassador Zamir Kabulov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan and the Pakistan delegation led by Ambassador Syed Ibne abbas, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. H.E. Mr. Zhang Yesui, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, met with the Russian and Pakistani delegations.
The three parties had an exchange of views on Afghanistan issue, the regional situation and international and regional cooperation on Afghanistan. The three parties agreed that the changing situation in Afghanistan concerns the regional stability and security.
The Dialogue of China, Russia and Pakistan as close neighbours to Afghanistan on this issue helps promote the understanding, mutual trust and coordination among the three parties. The three parties agreed to make consented efforts to safeguard peace, stability and security in Afghanistan and the region, and support the “Afghan-led, Afghan-owned” reconciliation process.
The three parties also agreed to support the Shanghai cooperation Organization in playing a greater role on the Afghanistan issue and discuss increased cooperation on counter-terrorism and anti-narcotics within the framework of the Istanbul Process.
