Chief Secretary orders to establish special police force for protection of minorities’ worship places

Karachi, April 07, 2015 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Siddique Memon has advised the Home Department and Sindh Police to ensure the security of minorities worship places in accordance with the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan. He issued this directive while presiding over a meeting, which was also attended by MNA Ramesh Kumar, Bishop Sadiq Daniel and IGP Sindh, in addition to the Provincial Secretaries and all Commissioners and DIGs. Secretary Implementation and Coordination Tariq Mehmood Jafferi briefed the meeting about implementation status thereof.

Memon also asked the IGP to take necessary measures for establishment of a special police force with professional training to protect the places of worship of minorities. The meeting reviewed the certain cases of violation of any right of the minorities including criminal cases.

The Chief Secretary asked the Secretary Minorities to present a report to this effect. He also directed Secretary Implementation to liaise with all connected departments to acquaint with the progress, to do the needful for facilitating the minorities. The progress in respect of 5% minorities quota in employment was also reviewed in the meeting.
