Gilgit, February 04, 2015 (PPI-OT): Gilgit, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Skandar Sultan Raja visited Central Police Office today. On his arrival, the Inspector General of Police Gilgit-Baltistan Captain (R) Zafar Iqbal Awan (Sitara-e-Imtiaz, QPM, PPM), alongwith other senior polic officers welcomed the respectable guest.
Guard of honour was also accorded to the Chief Secretary. Later on, Chief Secretary was briefed about the ongoing projects of GB Police and also about the new initiative taken by GB Police regarding fixation of trekking system on GB Police vehicles.
The Chief Secretary was apprised that the system would gradually be expanded to all police units of Gilgit-Baltistan in order to monitor movement of all police vehicles. While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary Sikandar Sultan Raja assured the Inspector General of Police of providing funds for completion of all ongoing ADP projects of GB Police, especially the most essential police stations.
The Chief Secretary directed to put up an umbrella PC-I for providing missing facilities, including fortification requirements for all GB Police buildings and offices. On request of the IG Gilgit-Baltistan Police, the Chief Secretary assured provision of funds for training of GB Police personnel by Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, and for Specialized Counter Terrorism training of GB ARP personnel at Army Counter Terrorism Centre of Excellence at Kharian Cantt.
He also assured the IGP of providing already approved 10 vehicles to GB Police to uplift its performance. At the end Inspector General of Police thanked the Chief Secretary GB for his assurances and cooperation with GB Police. He also thanked the respectable guest for his visit to Central Police Office.
