Chief Minister Sindh takes notice of camels dying in Thar

Karachi, May 16, 2016 (PPI-OT):Sindh Livestock Department has provided necessary medicines to the forest department to provide medical aid to the ailing peafowl in Thar Desert area. Secretary Forest Rizwan Memon in a meeting with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah today at the CM House said that he had dispatched eight teams of Wildlife officers to Thar and had give them one Veterinary doctor too each team.

On the recommendation of the teams, the Livestock department’s poultry wing has provided 20,000 vaccines of anti-biotic, 20,000 of vitamins, glucose and others necessary teams which have been dispatched to Thar. “Our department has arranged feed for the peafowl on its own,” he said.

The secretary wildlife said that out of eight peafowl kept in quarantine at Mithi, four have been released after giving them necessary treatments. The Livestock department has also started vaccines of poultry in the Thar desert area. The area of Chowwatio of Thar is more affected where peafowl have suffered.

The chief minister said that he has received some reports from Thar that some camels have died in mysterious disease. He directed his Principal Secretary Alammuddin Bullo to talk to Livestock department and take necessary measures to stop this disease. Like peafowl the camels are also the beauty of Thar Desert.

He told the secretary forest who also hold the charge of Senior Member Board of Revenue Rizwan Memon that he would visit Thar district during this week and personally monitor the situation in hospitals, veterinary services, plight of Livestock and development works.
