Chief Minister Sindh directs Work and Services Department to ensure construction of 1200 Km roads by completing at least 150 on-going road development schemes by end of financial year

Karachi, March 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali shah has directed the Authorities of Work and Services Department to ensure the construction of 1200 Km roads by completing at least 150 on-going road development schemes by the end of this financial year.

He also directed to speed up the work on Nawab-Shah to Ranipur road and get it completed by the end of this calendar year. This he directed while holding a meeting with High officials of Works and Services Department, Finance Department, also attended by Sindh Minister for Works and Services Mir Hazar Khan Bijrani and Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar at CM House Karachi today.

He said that Development and employment were at the priority of PPP Government. He said that among the development departments, the Works and Services was much important department which provides the communication facilities and indirect employment opportunities to the people of areas.

He said that the Sindh Government giving the importance to this sector, has earmarked annual allocation of Rs. 13.5 billion for the development with a view to provide maximum communication facilities to people and to save their time, energy and cost of journey as well.

He said that Sindh Government under such consideration had launched a mega road construction schemes for construction of 134 Km new asphalt road from Nawab-Shah to Ranipur including some other arteries at the total cast of Rs. 6.2 billion to provide alternate and short rout to the commuters while they going to Nawab-Shah to Sukkur.

He said that the commuters of National High Way mostly use this route to avoid heavy rush on National High Way and shorten their distance toward Sukkur. He said that this is very important and alternate route toward Sukkur and it must be completed by the end of this financial year in all sense.

However till that, the Chief Minister Sindh directed the officers to complete the diversion / Daur by Pass portion of this road and at least to make it motor able for the people. He said that this road will be proved most economical viable for the people.

He directed for release of Rs. 500 million with immediate effect to expedite the work and directed the officers to ensure its completion by the end of this calendar year. Endorsing the proposal floated by the Sindh Minister for Works and Services Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, the Chief Minister Sindh approved the package of prioritized road development schemes, which are suppose to interlink two or more than two towns.

He directed that at least one such schemes from each district should be included into this package he also approved the different big number of road improvement schemes for the province at the cost of Rs. 2 billion. The Chief Minister Sindh also directed the officers to ensure construction of strong shoulder and design gravity while constructing roads to avoid road damages and accident as well.

He directed the officers to maintain the quality of work and not to compromise on this important responsibility of their profession. He also asked them to try the completion of their schemes with in stipulated period to avoid the cost escalation and other bottlenecks and facilitate the people according to the Government plan.
