Lahore, March 28, 2017 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the e-Rozgaar training program at the Arfa Kareem Software Technology Park here today. Under this program 40 e-Rozgaar centres have been set up at 36 districts where the youngsters will be given three-month training so that they could earn a respectable living through online jobs. Announcing the increase in the e-Rozgaar centres, the chief minister said he believes that 40 centres are very insufficient and we have to set up such 40 lakh centres so that more and more students could be made financially empowered.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of e-Rozgaar program and first freelancing convention, the chief minister said the big portion of the population is consisted of the youth, they are our asset and the destination of the country cannot be changed without economic empowerment of the youth. He said the government has started various programs for the development and the economic empowerment of the youth, lakhs of youngsters graduate from universities and educated youth is the big challenge for the country and we have to turn this into opportunity.
He said the young boys and girls are plying the vital role in the development of the country after getting IT education and they also share burden of their families, and this is the path to the development and change the destination of the country. He said to achieve this objective, the government is responsible for proving suitable environment and investment and the Punjab government is taking exemplary measures in this regard and the e-Rozgaar program and Khadam-e-Punjab Self-employment are the parts of this of this vision.
He said the vice chancellor Information Technology University Dr. Umer Saif laid the foundation of the e-Rozgaar program about three years ago and thousands of the youth are doing respectable jobs after getting training from these centres. He said congratulated Dr. Umer Saif and his team and he believes this program is the need of the hour and Pakistan can move forward through this program. He said the Punjab government laid the foundation of the Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) of Rs 2 billion in 2008 and now its volume has been enhanced to Rs20 billion and lakhs of boy and girl students are getting education from the financial aid of this program.
He said from this education scholarship one lakh and 75 thousands needy students are getting education and one lakh and 20 thousands of these beneficiaries are girls. He said thousands of students have become doctors and engineers and getting education in foreign education institutions after getting financial aid from this scholarship. He said in the same way thousands of students have got technical training from the Skill Development Program. He said a system of monitoring should be introduced to get information whether these students are getting jobs or not.
He said this is big challenge and Dr. Umer Saif should make a mechanism in this regard as well. The Chief Minister said if Pakistan and Punjab are to make progress then we have to make our youth engine of this development. He said under the Khadam-e-Punjab Self Employment Program interest-free loans are being provided to the youth and nine lakh boys and girls are financially independent now through this program. He said in the same way 40 e-Rozgaar centres are insufficient and planning should be made to establish 40 lakh such centres.
He said when the PML-N came to power in 2013 the country has plunged into darkness, people were becoming jobless and losing their businesses and the people have become mentally sick due to load-shedding,. He said the hard work of the government to produce electricity is bearing fruit and God willing by end the end this year or the start of the next year darkness due to load-shedding will eliminate. He said sufficient electricity will be available for industry, livestock, agriculture and programs like e-Rozgaar and Pakistan will not only be self-sufficient in electricity but if Indian needed electricity then Pakistan will be able to provide surplus electricity to India.
Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said the current government under the leadership of PM Nawaz Sharif has started mega projects transparently that have no precedence in the past and these projects are heading toward completion. He said the first phase of the 1200MW Bhikki power plant will be completed in two weeks that will produce 800MW electricity. He said Pakistan will become a great country because the current government is working with hard work, speed, transparently and tirelessly.
He said he does not want to offer sweet dreams to the youth, but the youth is very close to him and he will serve the youth in the every possible manner and the youth will again support service, hard work and honesty in the 2018 general election. Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Umer Saif said60 percent population of Pakistan is consisted of the youth which is the harbinger of the bright future of the country.
He said e-Rozgaar program has been started as per vision of CM Shehbaz Sharif that will provide jobs to the youth. Provincial Ministers Syed Raza Ali Gillani and Jehangir Khanzada also addressed the ceremony and highlighted the importance of e-Rozgaar program. A youngster Muzammal Arif who has got training from e-Rozgaar told the audience his success story. At the end the ceremony Dr. Umer Saif presented a shield to the chief minister. Provincial ministers, parliamentarians, VCs, IT experts and students were present in the large number.
