Lahore, March 14, 2017 (PPI-OT): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here today in which matters emerged during the visit of the Chief Minister to the Kidney Centre and Children Hospital Multan were discussed. The Chief Minister ordered complete audit of technical, financial and civil works of both the hospitals. He directed to hold inquiry into purchase of hospital equipment and other matters from the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that he is shocked to see the pathetic situation of both the hospital established in Multan at a cost of billions of rupees. He said it is highly regrettable that the modern machinery purchased for the hospitals is still packed. He said we need to work with determination to provide relief to the people in distress. Shehbaz Sharif said that he will not allow wastage of investment of billions of rupees made for the hospitals.
He said the situation of hospitals cannot be improved while sitting in offices and the officials will have to go to the field for this purpose. He directed Additional Chief Secretary to immediately reach Multan to improve situation of both the hospitals and added Punjab Health Minister Khwaja Salman Rafique will also stay in Multan in this regard. He said all Deputy Commissioners should also visit hospitals to improve their condition.
He said we are answerable to the people and nobody will be allowed to waste resources. Former MNA Hanif Abbasi, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman P and D, Secretaries Health, Communication and Works and concerning officials were also present on the occasion while Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and other concerned officials attended the meeting from Multan via video link.
