Islamabad, January 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): A reference for condolence on the sad demise of Mr. Kamran Faisal was held today at the NAB HQs in which all officers of Regional NAB offices participated through video conference. After Fatiha, the Chairman addressed all officers and spoke to them on all issues being aired/discussed and/or speculated upon by various segments of the media.
The Chairman assured all officers that he would ensure that the inquiry regarding the unfortunate demise of Mr Kamran Faisal is free, fair, independent, and transparent. The Deputy Chairman has already been to Mian Channu and the Chairman also plans on going there to condole with the bereaved family.
The Chairman shares the pain of the family; the Chairman is among those unfortunate fathers who have suffered the pain of burying a son. Chairman assured the officers that one Investigating officer of NAB would be assigned with each police investigation team, investigating Kamran’s case. He assured all officers that their personal security was of prime concern to him. To that end, IOs would be given training in the use of small arms, so that they can possess weapons to defend themselves.
The Chairman assured all officers that his doors are open to all employees and that he can be approached at any time. And, that in case of any threat or pressure in any case, the IO would be changed on his / her request to safeguard as was done in the case of Kamran Faisal.
He said that the proceedings in RPPs case would remain pending till the conclusion of the inquiry in Kamran’s case. Responding to a question on departmental inquiry in the case, the Chairman said that this issue would be addressed after conclusion of the judicial inquiry commission. In the event that any inquiry is concluded unsatisfactorily, NAB can, and will, institute its own inquiry/investigation.
