Islamabad: A delegation of Pharma Industry called on Chairman Intellectual Property Organisation IPO-Pakistan, Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi on Monday at IPO-Headquarter, Islamabad and discussed matters pertaining to registration of trademarks and patents.
The representatives of Pakistan pharmaceutical Manufacturer’s Association, Saboor Ahmed and Shaikh Jabbar of Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association apprised the Chairman about the contribution of pharmaceutical industry in national economy. Chairman IPO highlighting the role of IPO in fighting against counterfeiting and piracy stated that it is endeavour of the government to provide a congenial atmosphere to all the business entrepreneurs to run their business without the fear of any intervention of illegal occupants.
He said Pakistan has great potential of investment in different sectors, both local as well as foreign investment in pharmaceutical industry, which is very encouraging. He assured full cooperation in registration process of trademarks and said that we are trying to provide registration coordination facilities at the focal points of trade and commerce industries and various trade organizations could also seek the cooperation of IPO in this regard. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi further said that we can promote industrial cooperation by strict enforcement of IPO laws and government is committed to ensure protection of IP rights by adopting appropriate measures.
