Islamabad, August 11, 2016 (PPI-OT): Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Vice Chancellors and senior management of HEC on Thursday warmly sent off the enthusiastic and slogan-chanting university students participating in Yakjehti Caravan to Quetta at Rawalpindi Railway Station.
Over 400 students from universities of twin cities and AJ and K boarded the special train that started off from Peshawar in the morning with around 200 students of KPK universities.
As part of Yakjehti Caravan, two similar trains have left from Lahore and Karachi via Multan and Sukkur respectively, carrying university students from these cities. These caravans will join each other at Quetta tomorrow to become part of three-day Azaadi celebrations being hosted by the University of Balochistan.
Speaking to the participants, the Chairman HEC appreciated their enthusiasm and eagerness to celebrate Independence Day with their brothers in Balochistan and strengthen the spirit of nationalism. and show it to the world that no internal or external enemy can deter them to remain united and jointly work for further strengthening Pakistan and make it a peaceful and prosperous country.
He also appreciated management of universities from across the country to facilitate students for their participation in this national and historic event.
During Azadi celebrations in Quetta, the students will participate in academic discussions, interaction with political dignitaries of Balochistan, attend a national youth seminar on “Balochistan Toward Brighter Horizon”, visit Balochistan Assembly, spend a day with Army, visit Quaid Residency, witness 14th August ceremony, visit Air / Aviation setups and different other events.
