Chairman Capital Development Authority suspends official on complaint about supply of unhygienic water

Islamabad, July 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): On the directions of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Nadeem Hassan Asif has suspended Assistant Director Filtration Plant, Naveed Akhtar with immediate effect upon receipt of a complaint about the supply of unhygienic water from 25 water filtration plants of the federal capital. Chairman has further ordered the issuance of show cause notices to the concerned Director and Deputy Director of Water Management Wing, CDA.

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Nadeem Hassan Asif has appointed Ahsan Ali Mangi, Member (Environment) as Inquiry Officer, who will probe the matter, fix responsibility and submit his report within 48 hours.

According to reports, Water Supply Directorate in collaboration with Quality Control Cell of Central Engineering Laboratory of the Capital Development Authority has conducted testing of 37 water filtration plants installed in different sectors of the capital city. The water hygiene of 25 out of 37 water filtration plants was not upto the standards, while complaints about the 11 dysfunctional water filtration plants were also received. Chairman CDA took serious action against all concerned for this lapse / negligence.
