Peshawar, April 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Central Mess Building of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology would cost Rs. 104 million and its foundation stone was laid down by Dr. Farrukh Seir, Caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health, Population Welfare Higher Education, Archives and Libraries.
This was stated in a briefing given to the Minister when he visited GIK Institute here on Thursday. Dr. Farrukh was chief guest at the central mess building foundation laying ceremony. Shamsul Mulk, President of Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology (Soprest), Jehangir Bashar, Rector GIK Institute, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Pro-Rector (academic), Ahsan Basir Sheikh Pro-Rector (Admin and Finance), faculty deans, academic staff and district health officers also graced the occasion. Dr. Farrukh was told that the Central Mess would facilitate from 1200 to 2000 students at a time and it would have four dining halls, complete accommodation, kitchens and all modern facilities for the students and the staff.
The contract of the project has been given to the National Engineering Services of Pakistan (Nespak) and its officers said that it would be completed and handed over to the institute within one year. The Minister was informed that each 10 hostel of the institute has its own mess building and facilities but that would be converted into the student’s accommodation after the completion of the new project.
While talking on the occasion, Dr. Farrukh Seir said that GIK institutes played a role in provision of quality education to its students.
