Central Development Working Party meeting approves six projects worth Rs5694.135 million

Islamabad, October 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): “The software in development project, entailing operation and management related issues, must be studied and implemented and given same importance as hardware, physical aspects of the projects for success and sustainability of projects. Public funds earmarked for development should be spent transparently to create highest value as we are answerable to the people of Pakistan.

Anti-corruption helpline is being set up to take notice of complaints in development projects”, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Prof. Ahsan Iqbal remarked as he chaired a meeting of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in Islamabad on Monday to consider public sector development projects.

While elaborating the importance of projects, he said,” Pakistan china economic Corridor projects will take Pakistan and China relations to new heights. Pakistan will greatly benefit from these projects and same will open new avenues for progress in Balochistan province”.

In order to streamline railway transport he said, “Pakistan Railways should come up with Railways Business Plan 2025 by keeping in view cargo and passenger load in the country, particularly coal transportation needs of power projects, as it will provide cheaper logistics to materialize goals of vision 2025 set forth for transport and communications.

He directed the projects sponsors to approach Europe, Japan and China to explore opportunities for technical assistance in developing strategic plan for reforming railways on modern lines”. On establishment of New Airport in Gawadar, the Federal Minister said, “The New Gawadar International Airport will provide modern infrastructure to Gawadar city for connectivity”.

He took strong notice of lapses in New Islamabad airport and directed that mistakes of this project should not be repeated in any way. Civil Aviation should have taken action against culprits who are responsible for loss of billions of rupees in New Islamabad Airport. Civil Aviation should inform CDWP what administrative action has been taken against culprits of New Islamabad International Airport whose completion should be expedited in light of PM’s directive”.

The Minister directed that a project should be developed and submitted to establish citizen facilitation centers throughout the country to provide Federal Government related citizen services to citizens under one roof.

Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute at Gawadar worth Rs. 984 million

Essential needs for development of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Z.A Bhutto Campus Kharipur Mir’s worth Rs. 891.668 million

Upgradation of Jawaid Azfar Computer Centre worth Rs. 291.797

Establishment of Taxpayers Facilitation Centers Phase II worth Rs. 997 million

Project for manufacture of five 3000 H.P Diesel Electric Locomotives worth Rs. 2230 million

Recommended Projects

Up gradation of existing 50 bedded hospital to 300 beds to be named as China Pakistan Friendship Hospital Gawadar worth Rs. 9968.225 million.

New Gawadar International Airport worth Rs. 26596 million

Federal Minister formed committees for further rationalization in costs of projects.
