Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh presides over law and order meeting

Karachi, March 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Mr. Justice (Retd) Zahid Kurban Alavi today presided a high level Law and Order meeting at Chief Minister House. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas, I.G Police Sindh Mr. Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Additional I.G.P Karachi Mr. Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, Additional I.G Police Special Branch, Additional I.G Police CID, all D.I.G’s Police Karachi and all S.S.P’s of Sindh province.

Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh in his views stressed upon police officers to pay full attention towards improvement of law and order in the province particularly in Karachi and it must be ensured that prompt action is taken against criminals and anti-state/anti-social elements without any discrimination. He added that he does not expect any miracle from police but at the same time, he is confident that as and when, they make coordinated efforts, better results are achieved.

He said that the main task of Caretaker government was to conduct elections and provincial government will provide maximum possible assistance to election commission of Pakistan. Mr. Justice ( Rtd. ) Alavi maintained that it is prime duty of police to maintain law and order, and provide security of life and property of people without any fear or favour.

Caretaker Chief Minister stressed that he wants action and performance and there must be liaison between all institutions- police, rangers and other LEA’s. He added that police will be empowered and provided with modern arms and ammunition, while their genuine problems will be solved so as to achieve best results as far maintenance of Law and Order is concerned.

He further said that traffic system be improved throughout province particularly in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and other cities, while efforts be made to improve signaling system, proper functioning of surveillance cameras and smooth flow of traffic without any hindrance or problem.

Caretaker Chief Minister added that any responsibility assigned to any officer, must be fulfilled in letter and spirit Mr. Justice (Rtd.) Zahid Kurban Alavi maintained that we have to create a clear picture depicting of role of police in the minds of general public so that people should cooperate and support the LEA’s in connection with maintenance of Law and Order.

Besides it is essential to create working relationship among police, rangers and other law enforcing agencies, he added. He said that genuine problems faced to police officers officials will be solved in the interest of performance. On the occasion, the police officers presented specific problems confronting to their responsibilities.
