Islamabad, August 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Maroof Afzal has directed the concerned formations of the Authority to take all possible preventive measure to overcome the threats of the dengue virus in the Federal Capital. CDA in collaboration with other organizations would ensure a comprehensive strategy against the threats of dengue virus. The preventive measures include awareness campaign, spray at possible breeding of dengue larva and its growth.
In light of these directions, a meeting was held here at CDA headquarters on Sunday. On this occasion, Director General Administration and senior officers of concerned formations of the Authority were present. Representative of Islamabad City administration and Rawalpindi Health Department also participated.
The concerned officers of, Municipal Administration, Sanitation Directorate, Environment Wing and Water Management Wing, Public Relations have been directed to ensure proper sanitation system, removal of shrubs and wild bushes and repair / maintenance of sewerage and water supply lines in the city as well as carrying out awareness campaign.
The meeting decided that CDA would remain alert against the dengue virus as the deadly virus remains active in specific seasons. CDA would take all possible preventive measures against the dengue during the ongoing monsoon season with more effective strategy. Due to the effective measures and proper planning, dengue virus remained under control as compared with other cities of the country. Chairman has directed that CDA have to work hard for elimination of dengue disease with more enthusiasm.
The meeting was apprised that all formations of the Authority have been taking effective preventive measures against the dengue virus in the city, which remained under control for the last few years. It was further apprised that the concerned formations are making collaborative efforts to overcome the dengue virus by proper maping and timely spray in the affected areas.
CDA had been taking all preventive measures through public awareness campaign, adding that more than 14,600 broachers, 200,000 pamphlets have been distributed among the masses while more than 500 banners inscribed with preventive steps against the dengue virus are also being displayed in prominent locations in the Capital City. Around 25,900 visits of all zones including high risk areas like I-8-11, G-6 to 9 were also carried out.
On this occasion, it was directed that a comprehensive and more effective public awareness drive against the dengue disease would be launched. Chairman has asked for an aggressive awareness campaign and maximum preventive measures would be introduced among the masses to ensure complete control over the dengue virus. The need for necessary training and education of the anti-dengue staff was also urged.
In this regard, Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ahmed Ali directed Health Services and Enforcement Directorate to overcome breeding of the dengue virus and asked that the owners of shops, bakeries, restaurants, tyre shops be conveyed to take all preventive measures against the dengue virus otherwise stern action would be taken against them without any discrimination under the Municipal Bylaws so that the residents of the capital city could be protected from the deadly virus.
He also directed the effective monitoring system would be evolved to check the results of the measures and collaboration in this regard. He also called for coordination with the other government departments to make this campaign a success.
