Capital Development Authority establishes two dedicated helplines as part of Anti-Dengue Fever Campaign 2013

Islamabad, August 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): On the directions of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Nadeem Hassan Asif, Health Services Directorate (DHS) is taking all out effective measures to overcome the dengue mosquito in the Federal Capital. DHS is launching an Anti-Dengue Fever campaign for the awareness of the general public.

Due to heavy rains during recent monsoon through out the country, dengue mosquito can breed in stagnant water in the city. CDA has device a plan to overcome the breeding of dengue mosquito as breeding is on its peak during the month of September and October. The Health Services Directorate, CDA has already launched the anti-dengue campaign since January this year. DHS is taking effective measures for elimination of dengue mosquito breed.

Health Services Directorate, CDA has requested the residents of Islamabad to take the following precautionary / preventive measures against the impending threats of dengue mosquito to avoid dengue fever:

i) Wear long-sleeve cloth and trousers.
ii) Use mosquito screens or nets when the room is not closed or air-conditioned.
iii) Place anti-mosquito devices near possible entrance such as windows and doors etc.
iv) Prevent accumulation of stagnant water.
v) Put all used cans and bottles into covered dustbins.
vi) Watering to plants at least once a week by leaving no water in the saucers underneath flower pots.
vii) Cover tightly all water containers, wells and water storage tanks.
viii) Keep all drains free from blockage.
ix) Top up all defective ground surfaces to prevent accumulation of stagnant water.
x) Do not store, condemn tyres in houses etc.

CDA also request the residents of the Federal Capital to contact Sanitation Directorate immediately on telephone helpline number 1334 in case of accumulated water on the on roads, in front of houses. In case of identification of any dengue fever patient, contact Health Services Directorate of CDA on telephone number (051-9267582-3).
