Call on by H.E. Mr. Mohammad Rashad, High Commissioner of Mauritius on 21-11-2012 with Sr. Minister and Minister of Commerce Mr. Makhdoom Amin Fahim

Islamabad, November 21, 2012 (PPI-OT): The High Commissioner of Mauritius, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Rashad, called on Federal Minister of Commerce Mr. Makhdoom Amin Fahim today and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations. Secretary Commerce Mr. Munir Qureshi assisted the Minister in the talks.

The Federal Minister said that relations between Pakistan and Mauritius were important and they should meet regularly to enhance ties and trade. He said that though we have good trade relations but there is still more scope to trade turnover between the two countries and the trade should not be restricted to a few subjects. He cited this meeting to be very important.

The Federal Minister also referred to high level exchanges between both the countries and said that they are very useful in creating better understanding between government and people Pakistan and Mauritius.

H.E. Mr. Mohammad Rashad agreed with Federal Minister that it was of fundamental importance to build a relationship based on mutual respects. He emphasized the fact that 10 lacs tourists come to Mauritius every year and there it is a huge market.

He showed interest of his government, encouraging Pakistani Investors to come to Mauritius for trade. The High Commissioner extended invitation to the Senior Minister to lead a high level Ministry of Commerce delegation to visit Mauritius to strengthen the relations and increase bilateral trade.

High Commissioner said that future relations between Pakistan and Mauritius should be based on market access and trade especially in context of Mauritius acting as a door way to African market for Pakistani products.
