CAIR-Florida seeks criminal charges for assaulting Muslim girl in Boca Raton

Florida (OIC-UNA) – The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida) called on Palm Beach County law enforcement agencies and the State Attorney’s office to bring criminal charges against those responsible for yesterday’s brutal group beating of a Boca Raton Muslim teenage girl.

This comes after a Facebook video was posted by the parent of the battered teenager showing an alleged gang-style beating by three females.

“CAIR-Florida receives numerous complaints of school bullying incidents and serious assaults against Muslim youth at a constantly increasing rate. We have reached out to the victim’s family and will ensure that this serious issue is addressed swiftly and appropriately by local officials,” said CAIR-Florida Civil Rights Counsel Omar Saleh.

CAIR’s California chapter (CAIR-CA) recently published a report documenting faith-based bullying and discrimination of Muslim students in California schools. CAIR-CA’s report reveals that Muslim students are bullied at twice the rate as the national average.

CAIR offers a booklet, called “An Educator’s Guide to Islamic Religious Practices,” designed to help school officials provide a positive learning environment for Muslim students.

CAIR-Florida is the state’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties of all people, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
