Islamabad, April 13, 2016 (PPI-OT):A high level Belarus delegation visited Ministry of Defence Production on Wednesday. The delegation met Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain and discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly cooperation in the field of defence production.
The Belarus delegation, that is on a four day official visit to Islamabad, expressed interest to explore the areas of Defence cooperation. They visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah Cantt, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra, National Radio and Telecommunication (NRTC) Haripur and Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), Islamabad.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the Pakistan- Belarus cooperation in defence would provide healthy framework for both countries. The two sides agreed that there existed a potential for Pakistan and Belarus to collaborate in the fields of defence and science and technology.
Rana Tanveer Hussain recalled his visit to Minsk in 2014, terming it productive and said the high level visits between the two countries had extensively contributed to strengthening of bilateral relations. He also extended the formal invitation to Belarusian side for IDEAS 2016. He also agreed in principle for exchange of technology.
The delegation tried to persuade MoDP to buy military trucks and optical devices and tried to convince the formation of the working group for cooperation in field of UAVs. Pakistan and Belarus share a cordial history of bilateral relations in economy, trade and defence. Both countries are maintaining agreements on trade, economic cooperation and investment protection.
