Baramulla youth killing has exposed India’s intentions: Gilani

Srinagar, March 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani condemning the latest killing of a youth in Baramulla, has said that the tragic death has exposed the intentions of India and its forces in the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a media interview in New Delhi said, “Whatever is happening in Kashmir today is the fallout of the secret and unjustified execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.”

Asking people to unite for the just cause, he said that fight for return of mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru would continue as his execution had infused a new energy into the freedom struggle.

Syed Ali Gilani said that the fresh killing of a youth at Baramulla was unfortunate. “Youth are spilling their hot blood for the freedom of Kashmir. Now it is the duty of people of the valley to protect the martyrs’ blood and get united for a just cause,” the ailing leader said.

The veteran leader demanded immediate release of prisoners, especially those arrested in last couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Committee for Release of Political Prisoners (CRPP) staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Syed Ali Gilani also spoke on the occasion and said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were fighting for many years for their inalienable right for freedom.

“Maqbool Butt was martyred in 1984 in Tihar, and now Afzal. We have clear evidences that he was not involved in the Parliament attack.”

Speaking on the occasion, chairman CRPP, SAR Geelani said Afzal’s execution was a judicial murder.

Among those, who spoke on the occasion included Sujata Bhadro, vice-president of CRPP, Sumit Chakravarthy, Editor of Mainstream, Amit Bhattacharyya (Secretary General CRPP), Prof P Koya, Vice President, Popular Front of India and PankajBisht, Editor Samayantar.

The participants of the protest unanimously demanded “abolishing of death penalty” on the pretext that it doesn’t suit civilized nations.
