Ban on US scholar’s lecture in Srinagar denounced

Srinagar, July 11, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum patronized by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has condemned the banning of lecture of a US-based prominent author and academician, Mridu Rai, in Srinagar.

The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that occupied Kashmir was actually a police state where the puppet regime was totally intolerant towards the opposite voices.

He maintained that India’s claim of being the largest democracy of the world was totally exposed in the occupied territory where the freedom of expression had been practically banned and people were not allowed to peacefully put forth their view point.

The spokesman said that the ignorance expressed by the district administration about the ban on the lecture was surprising and ridiculous. “The deputy commissioner Srinagar should explain that which authority other than he can ban such events and who is authorized to do so,” he added.
