Islamabad, July 09, 2014 (PPI-OT): Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Mr. Maroof Afzal has directed to ensure the availability of daily used commodities and edible items in all weekly bazaars of Islamabad on cheaper rates with large quantity during the holy month of Ramazan.
Chairman CDA issued these directions during a meeting held here at CDA Headquarters. On this occasion Member Administration and Estate, Amir Ali Ahmed, Director Municipal Administration, Director Bazaar and officers of concerned formations of the Authority were also present.
Member Administration, Amir Ali Ahmed apprised the Chairman CDA that concrete measures have been taken for availability of daily used edible items in all weekly bazaar of the Capital city including Tuesday, Friday and Sunday bazaar of Sector H-9, Tuesday bazaar of Sector I-9, Sunday bazaar of Sector G-6 and Bhara Khu weekly bazaar.
He informed the Chairman CDA that during the month of Ramazan, fresh fruits, vegetables and poultry is available to the consumers in huge quantity on priority basis, adding that he has strictly instructed the bazaar administration of all weekly bazaars to examine the prices of all commodities in the Fruit and Vegetable Market personally to make it sure that the prices of edible items in the weekly bazaars could not exceed the approved prices.
We have already directed the concerned inspectors of weekly bazaars to strictly monitor the prices and quality of daily used items and asked them to ensure approved prices of these items, Amir Ali Ahmed informed the chairman CDA.
He said that bazaar administration has also been directed to issue notices to those stallholders, selling substandard and expired fruits, vegetables and other items and if they do not comply with orders then issue challan and impose fine in addition to notices.
Chairman CDA, Mr. Maroof Afzal directed the concerned formations of the Authority to ensure the availability of edible items with quality, standard weight and on approved rates. He directed the concerned formations strict security and vigilance as a large number of people visiting the CDA weekly bazaars during the holy month of Ramazan.
Chairman CDA was informed about the prices of daily used items of CDA weekly bazaar including the prices of potato Rs.68/- kg, onion Rs.34/- kg, tomato Rs.28/- kg, ginger Rs.300/- kg, garlic Rs.92/- kg, lemon Rs.110/- kg, green chilli Rs.68/- kg, ladyfinger Rs.36/- kg, sweet pea Rs.76/- kg, brinjal Rs.26 kg, pumpkin Rs.18/- kg, bitter groud Rs.30/- kg. Fruit prices are: banana Rs.100/- dozen, apple, mango (chonsa) Rs.100/- kg, honey melon Rs.36/- kg, water melon Rs.25/- kg, peach Rs.130/- per kg.
As compare to the CDA weekly bazaar, the prices of vegetables and fruits in open market are: potato Rs.80/- kg, onion Rs.50/- kg, tomato Rs.40/- kg, ginger Rs.360/- kg, garlic Rs.180/- kg, ladyfinger Rs.50/- kg, pumpkin Rs.50/- kg. Fruit prices in open market are: banana Rs.200/- dozen, apple Rs.120/- kg, mango (sindary) Rs.150/- kg, mango (chonsa) Rs.140/- per kg, honey melon Rs.80/- kg, water melon Rs.30/- kg, peach Rs.240/- per kg. The people prefer to visit all the CDA weekly bazaars as they know the difference in prices of daily use edible available in weekly bazaars and open market.
