Srinagar, May 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders have denounced arrests, search operations, night raids and restrictions across the Kashmir Valley.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored the arrest of hundreds of innocent youth across the Valley, particularly in north Kashmir ahead of sham polls. He termed it as the frustration of Indian authorities.
Syed Ali Gilani in statement said that the whole Kashmir had been converted into the battleground and it looked as if India had once again invaded the territory. He maintained that the Indian government and its puppet administration were using troops and police personnel to kill the peaceful voice of people. Meanwhile, police in its latest drive arrested hundreds of people including several teenagers in Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts as a last ditch-resort to turn the flopped election drama into a success.
The police also arrested APHC leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in Baramulla to prevent him from meeting people as part of election boycott campaign.
The family members of a youth, Bashir Ahmad Butt, killed by Indian troops at Nawal Kadal in Srinagar on 30th April, said that they were not allowed by Indian army and police to offer fateha at his grave.
Hurriyet leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Zamruda Habib and the Jammu and Kashmir National Front said that the youth was killed by India and its collaborators only to give a message to Kashmiris that Kashmir was their occupied territory.
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leaders during their continued election boycott campaign in Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara urged the people to boycott the sham polls scheduled on Wednesday in the territory.
