APHC terms presence of troops around Jamia Masjid unjustified

Srinagar, March 06, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), condemning use of force on people at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, termed the presence of forces as completely unjustified and undesirable.

APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that people coming to offer Friday prayers at the Srinagar Jamia Masjid, were subjected to terror and harassment by Indian forces, adding that people felt intimidated with the massive presence of forces in the area. He said use of force and indiscriminate fire of pellets and tear smoke shells on the Nimazis was a deliberate attempt of the authorities to damage the sanctity and significance of the historic Jamia Masjid.

He said Hurriyet had time and again stressed that the authorities should abstain from creating problems with the massive deployment of forces in the area. He said that sacrifices were the real assets of the ongoing movement and the Hurriyet would make all possible efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the aspiration of the people of Kashmir.
