Islamabad, September 30, 2016 (PPI-OT):ANF in its commitment to curb drugs have installed modern scanners at major airports of the country, including Benazir Bhutto International Airport at Islamabad, Allama Iqbal International Airport at Lahore and Jinnah International Airport at Karachi. These scanners have been manufactured by a British company named “Braun”, and donated by Government of KSA.
The body scanners resemble walk-through-gates, which will make it possible to detect any suspicious object including drugs or ingested material, concealed under fabrics. This machine is considered the most efficient and less time consuming to examine passengers. The scanners aren’t hazardous and will not disturb any kind of privacy of the passengers.
At present, ANF Staff is undergoing training and become proficient to in use of new machines. Analyzing its results, the deployment of these scanners may extend to other airports as well. Initially, new machines have been installed at International Departure Lounges and soon will be made operational.
