Anti Narcotics Force crackdown on Narcotics Dens in Quetta

Islamabad, July 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): In continuation to the policy of Nationwide crackdown and zero tolerance on notorious Narcotics dens/ sites/ smugglers, ordered by Director General Anti Narcotics Force, Regional Headquarter Quetta carried out a massive and successful operation at narcotics locality, Habib Nullah commonly known as City Nullah at Quetta city. Arrested 3 famous Drug Suppliers, recovered street- supply drugs, dislodged 176 drug addicts and completely wiped out crime locality.

According to details, on 7th July 2013, Anti Narcotics Force undertook a secret crackdown operation on City Nullah, a notorious locality at Quetta. A total of 60 ANF personals participated in the operation, under the direct supervision of the Force Commander.

It was well planned three pronged operation, blocking all the entry/ exit points of the crime locality. During operation, a total of 179 crime related persons were hauled-up. After initial interrogation, 3 famous Drug Suppliers surfaced who were arrested and will be dealt by law.

These arrests may lead to further information. Search of personals/ locality resulted in recovery of 4 Kgs of high quality Heroin including 600 “Heroin Purries” and 740 grams of Charas. Nullah-site mainly comprised of self made tents “Jhuggis”, were completely dismantled/ destroyed. All stake holders have been informed to keep a watch, to deny re-occurrence of the crime.

Earlier in another operation at Quetta, on information, a spot check was placed on road Ziarat Bibi Nani Sahib to Quetta and intercepted a motor cyclist carrying 11.500 KGs of Charas (Garda). Motorcyclist has been arrested. FIRs have been registered in both the cases and further investigations are in progress.

It is pertinent to mention here, that ANF primarily concentrates at strategic seizures and the responsibility of street level drug-crime rests with local police. However taking notice of the unchallenged permanent drug- crime localities, Director General ANF has instructed to curb this drug menace forcibly throughout the country. Although the endeavors of ANF are wholehearted and wide-ranging, the meager strength / resources remains to be a challenge.

Recent ongoing operations speak of devotion of Anti Narcotics Force in war against drugs and to make Pakistan a Drug Free Society.
