Anti-Encroachment campaign was carried out in Peshawar

Peshawar: During a special anti encroachment campaign, the district government Peshawar has removed 20 Kacha Cabins/shops and other encroachments and notices were issued to illegally constructed houses to the occupants. While seven persons were also arrested on this occasion.

According to a special report issued here by DCO Peshawar, following the directives of the Chief Justice Peshawar High Court in a suo-moto case regarding encroachment in graveyards, the district government has developed a strategy in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of DCO Peshawar participated by all TMOs, DOR, Administrator Auqaf and as such Town wise plan was prepared.

As per plan today anti encroachment campaign was carried out under the supervision of DCO Peshawar alongwith TOR Town-I, Tehsildar Peshawar and removed the encroachments in Akhun Baba Graveyard Beribagh and 20 Kacha Cabins/shops were removed through heavy machinery.

In another drive, other encroachment area near Amir Nawaz Shaheed Chowk in Akhun Baba graveyard bearing Khasra No. 169, as pointed out by the Tehsildar Peshawar, temporary encroachment such as Kabar Godown was removed while the occupants of the constructed houses were served with a notice by the Town I authorities as well as by the Tehsildar Peshawar under Encroachment Act to remove the encroachments within seven days positively otherwise action shall be taken and as such the same encroachments shall be removed.

During the anti encroachment campaign, seven persons, who were creating disturbance during the campaign were also arrested and sent to the judicial lock u/s 16 MPO. In another effective action, a Taxi Stand established on the land measuring one kanal alongwith boundary wall was removed and gate installed therein was taken into possession.

To move forward to campaign, encroachment mode in the middle of graveyard where boundary was erected and a room was constructed inside the boundary wall was removed and the encroachers were arrested u/s 16 MPO and sent to the judicial lock up.
