Angry youth attack puppet minister’s cavalcade in Hajin

Srinagar, July 28 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police resorted to heavy teargas shelling when agitated youth pelted stones on the cavalcade of the puppet Minister for Higher Education, Muhammad Akbar Lone, in Hajin area of Bandipora.

Eyewitnesses told mediamen that Muhammad Akbar Lone arrived in Hajin to condole the demise of a political activist. “As his cavalcade reached near Shah-Gund area of Hajin, scores of youth present alongside the road resorted to stone pelting and smashed the windowpanes of some of his vehicles,” an eyewitnesses said, adding that the youth also raised pro-freedom slogans on the occasion.

The witnesses said that the police and security guards of the puppet minister and Central Reserve Police Force resorted to heavy teargas shelling to disperse the youth. “Police, security guards and CRPF men fired tear smoke shells. However, the youth continued to pelt stones on the cavalcade. To give safe passage to the minister, his guards went for aerial firing,” they added.

They said that the teargas shelling continued for hours even after the cavalcade of the minister left from the area.
