Karachi, August 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the police and Rangers have laid unforgettable sacrifices for restoration of peace in Karachi. “All the political parties had unanimously agreed in presence of civil and military leadership to weed out terrorists, criminals and outlaws from the country in general and from the city of Karachi in Particular. When peace has returned to the city an unconstitutional demand for deployment of NATO and UN forces in Karachi has been made. “This is an injustice with the people of this city, with the law enforcing agencies and with the commitment we had made with our people.”
This he said in a statement issued here from CM House today. He said that the terrorists, criminals and mafias had established their sway in this city of lights. The Heinous crimes such as terrorism, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion were on the rise and had caused capital flight and forced the people to be confined to their homes in the evening.
Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah further said that COAS General Raheel Sharif taking personal interest held a number of meetings in Karachi and developed a coordinated working relationship among different secret agencies, enhanced the morale of law enforcing agencies and extended special support to provincial government.
“The Sindh government on its part substantially increased the salaries of police men, equipped them with sensitive and latest gadgets and with specialized trainings. Considerably enhanced the compensation amount for the policemen who laid their lives in the line of their duty, and also announced cash awards not only for policemen but for the secret agencies when they succeed in working out important cases. These untiring, selfless, sincere and coordinated joint efforts by civil and military leadership translated into peace in Karachi,” the chief minister said.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said “this city belongs to each and every one of us. We all, the residents of Karachi owe a word of thanks to the law enforcing agencies who made extra-ordinary efforts to restore peace in Karachi. It may be noted that Mr Altaf Hussain addressing a gathering in Texas from London demanded the deployment of NATO and UN forces in Karachi and termed India as a coward country for not taking any action against killing of Mohajirs in Karachi,” he said and added “this is extremely unacceptable, unwarranted, uncalled and top of it unconstitutional demand,” he said.
Sindh Chief Minister said that Mohajirs/Urdu Speaking living in Sindh are Sindhis. “No excuse should be taken in their name to invite any other country and no any other country has any right to interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan. The chief minister categorical said that the targeted operation is not against any political party, group or leader but it is only and only against terrorists, criminals and outlaws.
“With the joint efforts of Sindh police, Rangers, agencies and with the backing of Pakistan army we have controlled the crime substantially,” he reminded and also added “any insane person can think to approach any foreign country, particularly India,” he said. “We would not tolerate if any attempt is made to make the targeted operation controversial and the demand made against the sovereignty of the country,” the chief minister said categorically.
