The Minister expressed his Government’s intentions to raise the relationships between the two countries a notch higher. He said that in these troubled times for Pakistan with issues like terrorism, law and order, energy and a weak economy; the Japanese Government would be looked towards as a role model.
The Japanese Ambassador informed that Karachi used to be the biggest export base for Japanese exports only 25 years ago. Unfortunately, all this investment is now going to Bangladesh, Singapore and other countries of the region but not Pakistan.
The Ambassador mentioned, security, energy and law and order as the biggest reasons why investment was eluding Pakistan. He, however, wished Pakistan that since the Government is business oriented, Pakistan would soon become an investment friendly country.

He further conveyed that the Government has set a time line of three months to start showing results. Taking about his own priorities, the Minister informed the Japanese Ambassador that improvement in traffic, electronic surveillance, computerization of land record and police stations and a massive crack down on adulteration in drugs, food stuff and cleaning the environment pollution would be some of his focus areas.
