All registered federal government employees will get residential plots: Minister

Islamabad, February 11, 2015 (PPI-OT): All the registered Federal Government Employees will get Residential Plots very soon. This was stated by the Federal Minister for Housing and Works Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani while talking to a delegation of All Pakistan Secretariat Employees Coordination Council who called on him here today to discuss allotment of plots on seniority basis rather then on first come first serve basis and abolition of 5% deduction from allottees of Government Owned Accommodation.

The Minister said the Government is aware of the accommodation problems of the government employees and steps are being taken to address this problems. He said that at present 30,000 employees are registered with the Ministry who will be given plots on first come first basis.

He said that besides Barrah Kahu, the Ministry has also identified four new sites for Housing Schemes in Islamabad where all the registered members will be given plots. He said that once the registered member is accommodated, then new allotments of plots will be given on seniority basis.

The Minister said that in view of high rent, a government employee can not afford to live in a private house therefore, hiring allowance is being increased and a summary to this effect will soon be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval. The Minister also said that low cost housing schemes for low income people will soon be started in Islamabad and all the four provinces under Prime Minister Low Income Housing Schemes.

He said that in view of lack of land and high price of land in Islamabad, a proposal for high raise building in Sector G-6 is also under consideration for government employees which will be given to original employees on ownership basis. The Minister hoped that with this measures in hand, the Housing problem of the Federal government Employees will be resolved.
