Karachi: A high-powered All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) delegation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the President of Orien Bank, Tajikistan to explore the prospects of bilateral trade and investment including cotton import from Tajikistan and extension of expertise for up-gradation of Tajikistan textile industry.
In a statement issued to the press after his official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman APTMA, Mr. Mohsin Aziz said that the Orien Bank is one of the largest bank of Tajikistan having investment portfolio in cotton, textiles, farming and airline business etc.
He further said that APTMA at first stage will import 2,000 tons of cotton, followed by further advancement on this front in future. A delegation of businessmen engaged in textile business will visit Pakistan soon, he added.
Chairman APTMA further said that both sides have also agreed to exchange bilateral delegations to furthering investment in prospective areas ahead. He said that APTMA would help out Tajikistan textile industry in revival, competitiveness and expansion of textile mills under the MoU signed with Orien Bank of Tajikistan.
In this connection a five member delegation will visit Pakistan to learn the achievements and up-gradation of textile industry of Pakistan. A team of Technical experts from Pakistan will soon visit Tajikistan to train their technical personnel in this particular field and afterwards a delegation of Pakistani businessmen will visit and go for joint ventures in textile industry of Tajikistan.
During the visit the delegation also met Mr. Farrukh Hamraliev, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Governor of the province of Khatloon and Mayor of Dushanbe and discussed issues of bilateral trade and mutual interest. APTMA delegation also visited Qurgontube Textile Factory at Qurgontube and the cotton field of Tajikistan.
The immediate past Chairman APTMA, Gohar Ejaz, Central Vice Chairman APTMA, Sheikh Muhammad Akber, Chairman APTMA Punjab Region, Ahsan Bashir, Chairman APTMA Sindh Balochistan Region, M. Yasin Siddik and Member Executive Committee, Sohail Tabba were the part of delegation.
