All Pakistan Newspaper Society grieved on demise of Mustafa Sadiq

“Hameed Haroon, President, Sarmad Ali, Secretary General, APNS on behalf of the office bearers and members of the Society have expressed profound grief over the sad demise of Mr. Mustafa Sadiq distinguished publisher, Daily Wifaq, Lahore The APNS awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards to Mr. Mustafa Sadiq on March 28, 2011 in recognition of his lifelong services for the promotion and development of print media and his efforts to safeguard the freedom of press.

Mr. Mustafa Sadiq born at Mozia Berchha, Tehsil Dasuya, District Hoshyarpur, was Honours in Persian in 1946 from University of Punjab, Lahore. Took active part in Pakistan Movement and worked with Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as a Muslim League worker upto 1948. He joined Jamat-e-Islami in 1948 and was appointed as Secretary Jamat-e-Islami, Lahore in 1950.

Worked in Daily Tasneem, 1954-57, Editor Daily Afaq, Faisalabad from 1957-59. He founded his own publication of Wifaq in 1959. He also published weekly Ittefaq, Lahore. All the Editions of Wifaq are the members of APNS. Since the very beginning continuously elected as member of the Standing and Executive Committees of CPNE and APNS respectively.

He was elected President CPNE for 1988, President APNS in 1991 and 1993. He served as Convener of various Committees of APNS. He was appointed Honorary Member emeritus of the Executive Committee on 17th March 2005 by the AGM of APNS.

The APNS office bearers expressed their condolence and prayed that Almighty Allah may rest the departed soul in peace and give patience to the bereaved family and friends to bear the irreparable loss.
