Islamabad, May 30, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed met Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President, Sardar Mohammad Yaqub Khan at Kashmir House in Islamabad.
During the meeting beside the other developments, they discussed recent elections of EU parliament. Likewise, the latest visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to India came under discussion and both sides emphasized on early and just solution of Kashmir dispute.
Ali Raza Syed said: “We are trying to build new strategy on Kashmir struggle at European level as a fresh EU parliament has been elected and many new faces would have been seen in upcoming session soon.”
According to him, beside election of Dr.Amjad Karim for third consecutive term of EU parliament, two more British MEPs, Raja Afzal Khan and Amjad Bashir from Pakistan origin were also elected. As well as for first time, a European from Pakistan origin Dr.Zahoor Manzoor has been elected as member of Brussels’ parliament.
The President of AJK appreciated the efforts of Sajjad Karim for highlighting human rights issue in occupied Kashmir and hoped that Karim and other people in European assemblies would pay further attention on large scale violation of human rights in the occupied territory.
He said, struggle of Kashmiris is according to the UN charter and the international community including European Union should play an influential role to implement UN’s resolutions on the issue. He said, struggle on Kashmir is being progressed and positive developments at international level are being made on dispute.
Ali Raza Syed briefed the President on the Council’s activities in the context of Kashmir dispute in Europe. President of AJK hailed the efforts of Kashmir Council EU for raising Kashmir dispute at Europe.
