Srinagar, June 01, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, has demanded of India to reveal the whereabouts of more than 10,000 Kashmiris, who have been subjected to custodial disappearance by Indian troops and police during the past twenty-four years.
Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi addressing a public gathering in Badgam described the custodial disappearances as the worst kind of human rights violations. He said that none other than Kashmiris could feel the pain of the families whose kin were subjected to enforced disappearance by the Indian troops and police personnel.
Senior APHC leader said that the family members of disappeared persons had been suffering from pain for the past 24 years and waiting for their return but the puppet administration of the occupied territory was not taking any action to trace the missing persons. He pointed out that thousands of unmarked graves had been discovered in occupied Kashmir and the relatives of the disappeared persons feared that their dear ones might be buried in these graves.
Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi said that the international bodies like UN should play an effective role and impress upon the Indian government to recover thousands of disappeared Kashmiris.
Paying tributes to two Kashmiri women, Aasiya and Neelofar, who were raped and murdered by Indian men in uniform in 2009, he deplored that despite the passage of four years, the authorities had not arrested and punished the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
Meanwhile, another APHC leader, Zafar Akbar Butt, addressing a meeting of the Association of Kashmiri Affected Families in Badgam appealed to the international community to play an effective role for the recovery of thousands of disappeared Kashmiris.
He urged India to stop human rights violations in the occupied territory and settle the dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
