Islamabad, August 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): Akhuwat has disbursed a total amount of more than Rs336 million as interest free loans to benefit 70,729 families and has increased the amount of its loan from Rs. 60,000 to more than 10-million. This was said by Amanullah Khan, Chairman Steering Committee while briefing businessmen about the welfare-oriented activities of Akhuwat at ICCI.
He said Akhuwat has 99.95% recovery rate which shows the trust of people in its financing services. He said Akhuwat through two operational branches in Abpara and Golrah has provided microfinance loan to 45 families and we want to increase the number of beneficiaries by expanding our branches in Kural, Tarnol, Ali Pur, Bhara Kahu and Motorway Chowk areas of Islamabad region.
Amanullah Khan said that Akhuwat not only provides Qarz-e-Hasna, it also wants to convert today’s borrowers into tomorrow’s donors. He said Akhuwat would organize the next mega loan disbursement ceremony at ICCI to provide interest free loans to s1500 beneficiaries in Islamabad so that they could harness their entrepreneurial potential and contribute positively to the society.
He said Akhuwat is also playing active role in disaster management activities in collaboration with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ICCI can also contribute in this by establishing disaster management cell to support the vulnerable population with suitable medical assistance. He also thanked ICCI members for providing an amount of Rs.3-million to Akhuwat for providing microfinance facility to the needy people and hoped that ICCI would continue to cooperate with Akhuwat in this noble cause.
Speaking at the occasion, Mehmood Ahmad Warraich, Senior Vice President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry lauded the role of Akhuwat for poverty alleviation and empowering the socially and economically marginalized families by providing them interest free loans.
He said Akhuwat has set a good precedent for others to make vulnerable persons useful citizens of society by engaging them in productive activities. He assured that ICCI would continue to cooperate with Akhuwat to uplift marginalized people out of poverty and improve their living standard.
Saeed Ahmed Bhatti, Vice President ICCI and former President ICCI Mian Akram Farid, former President ICCI were also present at the occasion.
Some beneficiaries of Akhuwat of Rawalpindi region also shared their success stories and informed how Akhuwat enabled them to come out of poverty and support their families.
