Peshawar: Rich tributes were paid to the renowned poet and scholar, late Ahmad Faraz at a ceremony held at the International Islamic University, Islamabad on Thursday. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar who presided over the function said that Ahmad Faraz is known as an institution and his poetry was visibly over welcomed by Arabic and Persian literature in particular It, he added, is mainly because of his religious and spiritual family background and the inspiration, he had drawn from his father who himself was a poet and scholar of his time.
Barrister Masood Kausar said that Ahmad Faraz like many other legendaries of the time was a hope against in justice and desperation and volunteered his poetic and literary works to help the society when it stood divided on different counts. Living societies always respect their heroes and get guidance from their works and services, which they had rendered for well being of the humanity, he said.
Distinguished scholars and writers, Fatah Muhammad Malik, Shibli Faraz, Nazar Tabbasum, Dr. Shaheen Mufti, Sajidur Rahman and Dr. Saadia Tahir also spoke on the occasion and termed Ahmad Faraz; a vigorous voice in support of depressed people and to promote balanced nourishment of society. They paid glowing tributes to Ahmad Faraz for his intellectual stature and the contribution he had made towards social awareness and development of the people.
