After law and order his govt is giving priority to implement Mega development projects of Karachi: Chief Minister Sindh

Karachi, March 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): Three Member Committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Sindh Development with Finance Secretary and Commissioner Karachi as members has been constituted by the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah for early implementation on the Mega Development Projects of Karachi.

The Chief Minister Sindh directed the Committee to establish close co-ordination with all stake holders including federal govt and financing agencies and get the works of Mega Development Projects started for which ground world mostly has been completed.

He assured that Karachi Administration will be further strengthen in all sense to cope the situation with success. The Chief Minister Sindh was presiding over meeting to discuss and deliberate the Administration and development related matters of Karachi at CM House Karachi today.

The Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiyana, Additional Chief Secretary Home Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Secretary Planning and Development Ms. Rehana Memon , Secretary S and GD and Coordination Shafiq Mehsser , Administrator KMC Rauf Akhtar Siddiqui, DC South Mustfa Jamal Kazi, DC Central Dr. Saif-ur-rehman, Dc West Ghulam Qadir Talpur, DC Korangi Zubair Ahmed, D.C East Sami-uddin Siddiqui, DC Malir Kazi Jan Mohammad and other officers of related organization attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister Sindh was of the view that through the development schemes of flyover bridges, under passes, widening of roads have converted the main arteries of metropolis as signal free and facilitated the commuters a lot, but the sustainable developments for having sufficient water sources, efficient sewerage system and better and fast Transport facilities to the people of Karachi are essentially needed.

He said that after the law and order, his govt is giving top priority to implement Mega development projects of Karachi which include KCR project and B.R.T for better communicates transportation facilities K-4 for having sufficient water sources and S-3 for efficient sewerage system in Karachi.

The Chief Minister Sindh said that Karachi was an important and frontline City of the Asia and many, national and international investors are taking keen interest to invest here in different sectors because they are aware of its potential and added that the only thing is to co-ordinate, communicate, inform, encourage and arrange the things.

He said that Sindh Govt to provide all facilities and incentives to these investors. He said that in order to start the work on KCR Project the Sindh Govt including the 25% share of KMC agreed to pay 50% cost of project and also informed the Federal Govt. Besides a high level committee headed by Senior Minister Education Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro with other members from stake holder organization was appointed for peacefully removal of encroachment on the route of KCR Project.

He said that this committee has performed well and most of encroachments on the routs especially from the areas of immediate nature were got removed and area has been handed over to the JICA to start the work.

He said that the Committee has also made success full negotiation for removal of the encroachment from remaining little areas in the way and hopefully it will be removed before or followed by execution work on the project.

Similarly S-3 project was very much important for sewerage and K-4 for water sources. The Chief Minister Sindh directed the committee to facilitate the organization concern for better implementation on S-3 project and proper follow up of K-4 at ECNEC so that these important projects could be completed within shortest possible time.

He said that govt was working its best to convert the Shahra-e-Pakistan (M.A Jinnah road) as signal free corridor and by completing Teen Hati Flyover within a month this route would be signal free from Suhrab Goth to Gurro Mandir as all other flyovers on this route including Liaquatabad Flyover, Dock Khana Flyover, Water Pump Flyover and Aisha Manzil Flyover have been recently completed.

He said that his govt was also working on other 4 new development schemes which include Malir-15 Flyover, Malir Hault, Mehran under Pass and Shaheen Interchange Flyovers and added that except Mehran under pass, work on other three has been started.

While talking on Administration issues the Chief Minister Sindh assured the officers that administratively they would be more strengthened and provided all facilities required to deliver the professional responsibilities easily. However, he stressed upon the revenue officers to concentrate over the control on price hike and removal of encroachment.

He said that Karachi has valuable land and it must be protected from land grabbers. The Secretary Planning and Development Ms. Rehana Memon, informed the meeting that Rs 916 million have been released against the 07 ongoing development schemes of Karachi out of which 60% of released of amount has been utilized till yet.

She also informed that some handsome amount has also been released against the 04 new schemes as well. The Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui while briefing the meeting said that Karachi administration was more pro-active to resolve the problem of people.

He said that all the provincial department are very much supportive specially helping hand in promoting health, education facilities and implementing on the World Bank funded projects. The Administration of all districts are discharging their responsibilities with dedication to eradicate menace of Polio, encroachments and traffic issues.

He was of the view that it was because of the pro-active role of local administration that multidimensional disputes were averted in the city, However he and all D.Cs pointed out their administrative problems and sought for resolving the same and Chief Minister assured that officers that their genuine problem would be resolved on priority basis.
