Islamabad: The implementation of Intellectual Property (IP) laws is vital for competitive economies especially in the back drop of ongoing globalization. IP is a powerful driver of innovation and creativity for economic stability and prosperity.
Government is focusing towards efficient management of intellectual property, throughout the country. This was stated by Chairman Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi, in a meeting with high officials of IPO to review the concerned issues of IPO-Pakistan here today.
Chairman IPO said that IPO can play key role of a bridge to promote social and economic activities by increasing trust level and affective implementation of IP laws in the country. He said that nature has blessed us with a number of resources, educated and skilled manpower however; there is core need to adopt IP laws to meet the quality standards of international arena.
Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi was of the view that burgeoning piracy and counterfeiting are suffering the vitals of national economy. We have to discourage such menaces. We have to fix our proprieties in accordance with international standards, he added.
While sharing views about IPO role, the Chairman said that collective efforts are being made to put Pakistan on the IP map of the world as a responsible country by promoting and protecting intellectual property rights.
During the meeting, it was also suggested that it is need of time to involve all segments of the society specially students, academia, journalists and business community to get aware and further promotion of the important IPR sector.
It was also expressed strong determination that IP laws would be implemented through affective drive so that provision of standardized products and services may be ensured at national as well as international level.
