Karachi, November 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that the delay in construction works of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan and Shahrah-e-Chishti not only caused difficulties for the citizens but also caused increase of cost in projects therefore the projects should now complete with no delay.
He expressed these views while visiting Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan and Shahrah-e-Chishti where he was accompanied by Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Deputy Commissioner District Central Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman, Senior Director Transport and Commission Muhammad Ather, Chief Officer Liaquatabad Town Syed Muhammad Taha, Project Director Rehman Shaikh and other officers.
He said that 5 km two way road and 6 feet wide Nala in the middle of road cost Rs310million in which construction of a part of road and Nala was completed however, construction work was delayed due to unavailability of funds which was now being started immediately. He said that this was an important project.
Administrator Karachi said that development of city was our first priority and there should be no barrier in its way. He also directed Works and Services Department to take every possible measure to complete the projects of roads, bridges, flyovers and remaining part of construction work of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan on time.
He said that the construction work of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan from Abdullah Girls College to Qalandaria Chowk would be completed by the end of next month. He also said that the construction work of Shahrah-e-Chishti from Metric Board Office Nazimabad to Banaras Flyover would be completed in next two weeks.
He said the electric poles and PMTs which were coming in the way of road would be shifted to other places after consulting with KESC. Shahrah-e-Chishti was 7500 meter long and the each track with the width of 15.6 meter. He directed Director Parks to do tree plantation and greenery on both sides of the green belt lying in the middle of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan.
He said the road from Metric Board Office to Banaras Flyover was also reconstructed along with widening which would be completed in next 15 days and a track had also been constructed from 11 meter to 15.5 meter whereas 12 meter central eye land was done 5 meter to improve flow of traffic.
Administrator Karachi said that after construction of Banaras flyover the traffic pressure on Shahrah-e-Chishti had increased due to which construction of this road was very necessary. He further said that KMC was utilizing all resources for the development of the city.
