Karachi: Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed on Thursday paid a visit of ongoing development projects in different areas of city. He was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, Director Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Director Parks Liaqut Ali Khan, EDO Transport and Communication Ateeq Baig, Senior Director Health Services Dr. Nasir Javed, Senior Director Sports and Culture Rehan Khan, Administrator ZMC South Muhammad Raisi, Municipal Commissioner ZMC South Nauman Arshad, Municipal Commissioner ZMC East Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Chief Engineer District East Mehmood Hussain Baloch and other high officials.
The visit begun from Baradari Car Parking site at Polo Ground which has the capacity of parking of 600 cars at once in the two storey parking area. This project was carried out on BOT basis with a cost of Rs400million. Construction of old Baradari and adjacent park over the Parking site was underway.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion said that this being densely populated area had 5 star hotels and thousands of offices. Parking of vehicles on roads and inner streets had caused regular traffic jam and the people had lot of difficulties due to this. With the completion of Baradari Car Parking Area this problem would be solved forever.
The parking area will have 16 CC TV cameras and 12 fixed cameras for continuous monitoring of vehicles. He said KMC did not spend any amount on the construction of Baradari Car Parking and the project was given on lease to a local firm on BOT Basis. He while expressing doubt on the construction work directed contractor to speed up work so that this project could be completed by 15th February or face the penalty on daily basis.
He also directed Director General Parks to carry out renovation work of Bagh-e-Jinnah (Polo Ground) and ensure availability of all sorts of recreation facilities for citizens visiting Bagh-e-Jinnah. During the visit of Sobhraj Maternity Home Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed inspected the newly constructed five storey building of the hospital.
He was informed by Mr. Hashim Shaikh of Feroza Hashim Trust that construction work will complete in next fifteen days while OPD in basement and ground floor of the building was already begun. He also briefed the administrator about various facilities provided in this hospital. Administrator Karachi instructed concerned department to maintain cleanliness around the hospital.
