Karachi, July 18, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said allocation of land for construction of a club and hostel for disabled and special person had been made and the construction work would start in September. This would provide the first of its kind club and hostel for disabled persons in Sindh which would be equipped with all necessities.
He said this on Wednesday while addressing the inauguration ceremony of first KMC Special Marathon 2012 for disabled persons. Senior Director Sports, Culture and Recreation Rehan Khan and other officers were also present on this occasion. Administrator Karachi said KMC was holding various sports and recreational events for disabled and special persons on regular basis which were aimed at keeping these people active and energetic.
He also announced that the winners of this marathon will be selected to compete for Special Olympics 2012 Earlier he formally inaugurated the marathon for different categories which was taken part by over 300 special persons both male and female. Rema Kanwal won the women race whereas Khurshida Bano and Saba Ali secured second and third position.
Meanwhile Metropolitan Commissioner KMC Matanat Ali Khan while addressing the concluding ceremony of Summer Sports Camp held by KMC in Sports Complex said that KMC will continue supporting and encouraging holding of healthy and productive activities in the city. He said the football ground in KMC Sports Complex will be restored soon. The Sports Summer Camp was attended by a large number of school going students.
