Karachi, November 29, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has directed to take necessary measures about seasonal plantation and greenery and establish nurseries for growing plants and flowers to generate sources along with savings and to make city green and attractive.
He said this while addressing a meeting held on winter plantation campaign. On this occasion the officers of Parks and Horticulture Department and concerned Officers of all towns were also present.
He said that along with plantation the seasonal flowers and rare plants would be kept in exhibition so that this would create proximity of plants and flowers in citizens. Administrator Karachi said that flowers and trees were precious gift from nature and flowers express our feelings on various occasions that not only provides a good feeling but also play a vital role to make environment better.
He also said that KMC arranged exhibition of Gul-e-Dawoodi in which various departments along with towns of the city participate. He directed to arrange exhibition of Gul-e-Dawoodi under the arrangements of KMC this year as well and establish nurseries of flowers and plants immediately which would not only fulfill requirements of the city and provide citizens with flowers on cheap prices as well.
He also directed parks and horticulture department to grow plants above 10 Lac in those nurseries and grow plants on both sides of corridors, in eye lands and in parks under the arrangements of KMC which would save time and money and provide seasonal plants in the city.
He said that Karachi was a Bay City and therefore coconut, dates and other kinds of plants should be grown which would emerge good feelings. On this occasion he requested citizens to grow plants and flowers in their homes and areas and in this connection they could also contact parks and horticulture department for any consultation and recommendation.
On this occasion Director General Parks and Horticulture gave a briefing and informed that Parks and Horticulture Department had prepared above 12000 seasonal plants and flowers from seeds imported from Nederland which would soon be grown in parks and at corridors of the city.
Administrator Karachi said that KMC was spending a huge amount for infrastructure of the city, betterment of the environment, medical facilities and education sector. He said KMC along with 13 big hospitals, 665 primary schools, medical colleges, above 200 parks, play grounds, sports complex, gymnasiums provide other facilities.
He said that during last two years various measures for better infrastructure of the city were taken in which construction of corridors, 8 flyovers, an underpass, 3 bridges and other projects were under completion.
