Srinagar, August 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has made it clear that abrogation of or amendment to Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution will not be acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir at any cost.
The JI in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the communalist government of India led by Hindutva forces will never be allowed to create a Palestine-like situation in Jammu and Kashmir. “India has devised a vicious plan under the patronage of Zionist regime to forcibly occupy the land of the local residents and make them homeless in their own native land,” it said.
The JI pointed out that the vicious attempts for abrogation of Article 35-A and 370 are being made to change the demography and thereby frustrate the people’s demand for self-determination. However, Kashmiris are united to defeat all such sinister designs, it said.
The JI strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing by Indian forces upon the innocent protesters and mourners at Gonowpora in Shopian and in Yener area of Pahalgam resulting in the death of a youth Bilal Ahmed Khan. “This is a cold-blooded murder. Besides, scores of youth got injured in firing of pellets and bullets by Indian forces in both the villages,” the statement said.
The Indian forces, the JI said, are hell-bent upon massacring the young Kashmiri generation to suppress the voice of the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir. “These brutal methods can never bring peace and tranquillity in this region unless the right of self-determination is given to the people of Jammu and Kashmir as promised in the UN resolutions,” the statement said.
The JI said that the postponement of the petition pertaining to abrogation of Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution till 27th August 2018 is a well thought-out strategy to ensure safe passage of some important events without any public disturbance. It urged the Kashmiri people to remain cautious and united to frustrate all these devilish plans.
